Forbes magazine has published its ranking of the best cities to move to in 2018 to live well and spend less. Among the destinations chosen by the prestigious American magazine is the city of Città Sant'Angelo (in Abruzzo), one of the most beautiful towns in Italy, in the province of Pescara.
The ranking is actually prepared by the consulting firm Live and Invest Overseas, based in Panama, but it is Forbes who relaunches it every year.
1. Lisbon, Portugal
This year, the Portuguese capital takes first place, where, according to the consultant, a couple can live well with a budget of 1,050 euro per month, including rent.
2. Cali, Colombia
The city is considered safe and has a very pleasant climate. A couple can live on 800 euro a month, rent included. What’s more, a three-bedroom flat with two bathrooms can be purchased for approximately 35,000 euro.
3. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Located in one of the fastest growing countries in Latin America, this city offers a cost of living of approximately 1,200 euro per month.
4. San Pedro, Belize
A small city on the island of Ambergris Caye and, at the same time, a true slice of paradise for many foreigners. Renting an apartment with sea views can cost around 800 euro and a couple can live well with twice as much.
5. Saint-Chinian, France
In this city, famous for its vineyards, property prices are low and there is an excellent public transport service that can allow you to live without a car. Life for a couple can be around 1,300 euro a month.
6. Città Sant'Angelo, Italy
One of the most beautiful towns in Italy, it combines the charm of history with a landscape of unspoilt nature. According to the consultant, it’s as beautiful as Tuscany but has a lower cost. A couple, for example, can live on approximately 1,100 euro a month.
7. Ljubljana, Slovenia
The capital of Slovenia is an ultra-modern city where you can live, as a couple, for just 800 euro a month.
8. Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Playa del Carmen is one of the safest cities in Mexico, with a stable economy and low unemployment levels. The monthly cost of living for a couple is less than 1,600 euro.
9. Sanur, Indonesia
Sanur is a quiet city where many foreigners move to. A couple can spend the equivalent of around 1,300 euro a month.
10. Da Nang, Vietnam
This is the third largest city in the country and has a very rich history. It’s possible to live well with around 1,000 euro a month.
