Characteristics of a luxury home
Characteristics of a luxury home

During your house hunting, you’ve probably noticed that a distinction is often made between run-of-the-mill properties and so-called ‘luxury’ properties. So, what’s the difference? What makes a luxury property so luxurious?

Quality: A luxury property is made with high-quality, long-lasting building materials and finished with style and elegance. In fact, the particular aesthetic a luxury property has could the most important aspect in making it so, and the deciding feature for many when buying one.

Location: Many luxury properties are all in the same neighbourhood together, albeit with a fair distance between each one for the neighbours’ privacy. They are often located in quiet suburbs, within gated communities that have 24-hour security, but still close to services like hospitals, shopping centres and prestigious international schools.

Exclusive features: These properties often come with certain added extras that traditional houses don’t have, such as saunas, spas and swimming pools, cinemas, cellars or guesthouses.

Size matters

Size: As well as high-quality, it stands to reason that luxury properties are larger than normal buildings, big enough for each member of a family to have their own space. The communal areas, too, are on a grander scale, with spacious kitchens, living rooms and games rooms.

Now that you know the difference between a traditional house and a luxury property, all you need to do is decide which is right for you.
