The trend of tiny prefab houses is on the rise, so much so that many companies are creating increasingly efficient, interesting and sustainable models. A clear example of this are the prefabricated Zomes houses, whose particular design resembles an onion.
What stands out about these modular houses is their high efficiency and durability. "One of our Zomes can last up to 100 years, while a bog standard tiny house or prefabricated shed has an estimated life span of around 20 years," explain Zomes. They also ensure that they can withstand temperatures of up to 1,204 degrees Celsius.
This is thanks to the materials they use. In particular, bioceramic cement, cellulose insulation and bamboo cladding, all highly sustainable and designed to improve the efficiency of the home.
"Our one-layer walls use cellulose insulation that works in combination with our bioceramic layer to provide passive solar heating. Together with this, our integrated platform creates a thermal mass that provides cooling and heating by absorbing heat during the day and diffusing it at night to ensure the house remains balanced."
Regarding construction time, the company explains that in less than two months it can be built and installed on the ground. Depending on the model, it will take more or less days and people to build it.
For example, the company's smallest model, which has an area of 18.5 m2 and is priced from 46,000 euros, requires two people and two days for final installation. Given its size, this model is intended to be an auxiliary house or an extra room, but could become a real residence by adding more modules.
The next model is slightly larger. It has an area of almost 34 m2, which allows it to be used as a living space, but still with reduced dimensions. Its price starts at 64,363 euros.
This medium-sized building is equipped like a complete house. With a surface area of 51 m2, an attached loft of 14 m2 and a price that starts at around 92,000 euros and goes up to 247,661 euros, they have a bedroom, a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen.
Finally, the company's largest model has an area of 74.3 m2, plus an adjoining loft of 18.5 m2, i.e. a total of around 90 m2. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. Its price starts at 119,470 euros and exceeds 329,000 euros with all the equipment.
