Now could be your chance, as in Tuscany, you can now receive a grant of up to €30,000 to buy a house if you move to a small mountain municipality with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. This benefit is part of the newly published "Mountain Living 2024" programme, aimed at promoting and incentivising the repopulation and socio-economic revitalisation of Tuscany's mountain areas.

This is how you could get paid to move to Tuscany in 2024: with an allocation of €2.8 million from the Italian Mountain Development Fund (Fosmit), the programme is open to all Italian citizens, as well as citizens of other EU states or non-EU nationals holding a residence permit of at least 10 years, residing in a non-mountain Italian municipality.
Applications and deadlines
Applications for the grant, which can range from a minimum of €10,000 to a maximum of €30,000 and in any case cannot exceed 50% of the total costs incurred for purchasing the property and related expenses, must be submitted by 1 pm on 27th July 2024.
